Material Handling In Agriculture

Material handling in agriculture is concerned with the transportation and handling of materials and products in a systematic manner from the point of origin to the destination. Handling of agricultural materials and products is important, not only because of the work involved, but because of its effect on costs, product quality and management. Costs can be lowered with efficient materials handling systems in which the components are integrated to provide a smooth flow of the agricultural processes but it is also necessary to understand the feasibility. It can also help in effective application of mechanical equipments thereby enabling resourceful use of manpower. Use of machinery wherever feasible helps to reduce labor costs, increase capacity, reduce worker fatigue, improve safety and speed up handling of perishable products.
