Organizers of Material Handling Middle East project rise in sales

Material handling equipment forms an integral part of any plant, warehouse or distribution system and according to Epoc Messe Frankfurt, organizers of Materials Handling Middle East, the global materials handling equipment market is projected to exceed AED 382 billion in sales by 2010. There are various factors responsible for the increasing demand for material handling equipments in the Middle East, some of which are rising per capita incomes, expanding manufacturing output and increasing investments in infrastructure development activities. The growth is more evident across developing regions in the Middle East including UAE, Saudi, Qatar, Iran and Iraq; Asian countries such as India and China, as well as in Russia, Mexico and Turkey.

Materials Handling Middle East is the leading international exhibition for logistics, supply chain, freight, and cargo products and services in the Middle East. This exhibition is in association with VDMA (German Engineering Federation), which supports the largest engineering industry network in Europe. This year, the exhibition is scheduled to take place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 31st May to 2nd June 2009 which will showcase products by the major players in the materials handling equipment market including Cascade NV (Netherlands), Mohamed Abdulrahman Al-Bahar / CAT (UAE / USA), SSI Schaefer Systems Intl. (UAE / Germany), Interroll (France), Span Group / Jungheinrich (UAE / Germany), ICAM Srl (Italy), and Link Misr International (Egypt); amongst others.  The exhibition will have over 250 exhibitors from more than 35 countries, to a visitor attendance of almost 10,000 in 2009.

Commenting on the growth opportunities, Elisabeth Brehl, MD of Epoc Messe Frankfurt, organizers of Materials Handling Middle East said: “There is a growing trend in the industry towards complete integration of materials handling systems with procurement systems, manufacturing management systems and shipping operations. This is expected to bolster demand for automation equipment and software both regionally and internationally.”
