Hands Free Material Handling Equipments
In the assembly line of a manufacturing unit the material flow is an important activity. It is must that all parts of the assembly line should be in proper motion and activity. It is found that material handling in assembly lines sometimes create problems and bottle necks and ergonomic risks.
So in order to resume the order of Material Handling uninterrupted assemblers can turn to automated material handling equipments such as driverless carts, robotic parts bins and autonomous tuggers.
The concept of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) is not new in material handling lines however span of time advanced technology is making demand for a new generation of driverless vehicles that tends to be more cost-effective, reliable and flexible. “Today’s AGVs are simpler, cheaper and more robust than their predecessors,” says Jim Caie, vice president of ARC Advisory Group (Dedham, MA).
Conventionally, AGVs function in a loop and are worn to convey parts, components and subassemblies from a storeroom or warehouse to an assembly line. However, new knowledge in addition allows the plans to mechanically load and unload delivery trucks. For instance, at Chrysler’s Belvidere, IL, assembly plant, AGVs act together with robots to unpack racks of instrument panels from semi trailers and then come back the racks when they’re empty. Thus free handling material handling equipments has great scope in conventional as well as modern material handling range.
