Defence Logistics for the British Government
Britain’s the Ministry of Defence has awarded BearingPoint a contract worth up to £5 million to complete a data-warehousing project. The project is aimed at improving its forces’ operations. BearingPoint is a management and technology-consulting firm. It would design, develop and support an enterprise data warehouse specified by the Ministry of Defence’s Defence Logistics. The project is part of the Defence Logistics Organisation (DLO)’s Logistics Information Systems strategy. The initial contract is valued at over £2 million.
The DLO requires a structured, accurate and centralized data repository for logistics management information. The goal of the project is to create a warehouse of data for all defence logistics information users. The Defence Logistics will support aircraft fleets for the royal Air Force, royal Navy and Army. It will also support land forces and battleships. The enterprise data warehouse will have the capability to merge data from the operational domains and other domains such as finance and human resources.
