MHIA Takes Over MH1

The Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) has been given the task of administrating MH1, the committee that develops U.S. standards for pallets, slip sheets, and other bases for unit-loads, by the American National Standards Institute. It takes over from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). MHIA will function as the Secretariat of the ANSI accredited MH1 committee and also of the US Technical Advisory Group (USTAG), which develops U.S. positions for the international Technical Committee 51 (ISO/TC51) on "Pallets for Unit Load Method of Materials Handling." MHIA reports:

The MH1 committee recently published a revision of its MH1 standard titled, "Pallets, Slip Sheets and Other Bases for Unit Loads." The standard was approved on November 30, 2005 and is a revision of the 1997 version. It is generally revised on a three to five year cycle.
