Automation Improves Service
Automation of materials management systems is the way to increase productivity, as CDW, provider of technology solutions and products for business, government and education, discovered. The company recently upgraded the design of its Western Distribution Center in North Las Vegas to expedite the execution of orders, and serve its West Coast customers better. Along with its system integrator Matco Distributors, the company created a paperless flow through the facility by installing:
- A seven-mile long roller conveyor
- Tilt tray, sliding shoe, and pop-up diverter sorting systems
- Automated scanning tunnels
- Automated print an apply label applicators
- Automated box makers
