Results of the Third Annual Global Survey of Supply Chain Progress

Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) and Supply Chain Management Review, have successfully conducted the third consecutive survey. This Global Survey of Supply Chain Progress was conducted in order to find out how successful professionals and practitioners have been working effectively in the domain of supply chain management. The purpose of the survey was to identify emerging trends and technologies. Two surveys done earlier recorded a steady growth made withing a framework called the "Five Levels of Supply Chain Evolution". As per this year’s results, a large number of organizations within all of the 18 industry segments, have moved on through the third level and are collaborating with external supply chain partners. Almost 50% of the respondents believed that their organization, had crossed level 2. Another 20% felt that their firms have moved past level 3 in almost all the major supply chain areas. The Survey in all showed that the supply chain management industry or domain as a whole was progressing steadily towards full network connectivity. This implies, the collaborative sharing of knowledge and information among business partners; online. Manufacturing.net reports:

The two previous studies documented steady progress being made along a framework we call the “Five Levels of Supply Chain Evolution.” (Exhibit 1 presents the five-stage framework.) The framework ranges from enterprise integration (level 1) to full network connectivity (level 5).
