Strategies for Optimizing Material Handling Equipment

Plant managers today face a lot of pressure, to optimize costs and maintain production levels. Hence many operations are looking for solutions to re-optimize their existing material handling systems and equipment. Three simple strategies can be employed in order to accomplish this.  These strategies can be put into place through vendor-partners. Across different locations plants are extending product life cycles, reducing downtime losses and decreasing capital expenses. These 3 simple strategies are reducing, reusing and recycling. They can have a massive impact on the cost-cutting measures. One can employ the first strategy ‘Reducing’, by lowering system inefficiencies and taking up preventive maintenance measures. Reusing is retrofitting or re-purposing of equipment rather than replacing them and leads to a substantial saving. Recyling entails re-manufacturing; which saves money and preserves resources.
