Microsoft Corp. Enters the Enterprise Application Domain
In the 1980’s and 90’s firms built Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) suites in large numbers, eliminating the need for paper-based administrative processes. Earlier SAP, Siebel and Oracle rose up in this new environment, now Microsoft Corp. is making headway into the enterprise applications domain. Itmanagement.earthweb.com reports:
Through a combination of acquisition and in-house development, the software giant is broadening its Microsoft Business Solutions portfolio. According to Hamerman, however, Microsoft still only accounts for about four percent of the business application market.
