Warehouse Specialist

An understanding of the establishment’s storage plan forms the basis of a warehouse specialist’s job. Verifying materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages, routing materials to prescribed storage locations, storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods, rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials, examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage, removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment are some of the other duties that are involved.

Author of ‘Reinventing The Warehouse’ Roy L Harmon writes

"To be competitive in the twenty-first century, companies must create new, small ‘focused warehouses’ that will decrease bureaucracy and increase the authority of managers and work-teams to ensure successful operations"
